Greenville, SC – This past Saturday, November 8, hundreds of families came together to help support the Harvest Hope Food Bank and its Emergency Food Pantry through the Disney on Ice “A Treasure Trove of Food” Food Drive held at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Families were lined up in front of the Arena to donate canned goods to those in need an hour before the event started. In only two hours, Harvest Hope collected 4,577 pounds of food, which translates into 22,885 meals. This year, over 5 times the amount of food was donated than was at the same event last year.

“We are so thankful for all that participated in the Disney on Ice Treasure Trove Food Drive,” Harvest Hope’s Community Development and Events Assistant, Jordan Littlejohn said. “By collecting such a large amount of food at this event, we will be able to bless so many families with food on their tables this holiday season.”

During the food drive, kids were treated to face painting, balloon animals, a coloring station and a live broadcast from 1073 JAMZ. Every family that donated 5 cans received a free ticket to Disney on Ice presents Treasure Trove, which will be at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena November 26-30.

“The Bon Secours Wellness Arena is honored to partner with Disney on Ice and Harvest Hope to help feed families in the Upstate,” said Beth Paul, the Arena’s interim general manager.  “We are so grateful for the generosity of our Greenville community and the impact their gifts have on those in need.”
